Evaluating the readings of the Bellovacensis codex deperditus about Luxorius’ poems published by Binet in 1579, I propose to highlight the intrinsic value of the missing manuscript, to indicate its plausible location (to be confirmed in the future by direct collation of all the Petronian poems and other epigrams that it transmits) in the stemma codicum of Anthologia Latina, recently drawn by Loriano Zurli, and consequently to show the concrete aid for the publisher and the exegete of Luxorius arising from the humanistic edition.

Abstract

Evaluating the readings of the Bellovacensis codex deperditus about Luxorius’ poems published by Binet in 1579, I propose to highlight the intrinsic value of the missing manuscript, to indicate its plausible location (to be confirmed in the future by direct collation of all the Petronian poems and other epigrams that it transmits) in the stemma codicum of Anthologia Latina, recently drawn by Loriano Zurli, and consequently to show the concrete aid for the publisher and the exegete of Luxorius arising from the humanistic edition.
