In this paper a new methodology for the identification of the mechanical parameters of nonlinear MDOF systems is described. It can be used for damage identification purposes when the damage modifies the non-linearity of the investigated structure. It is based on the solution of the Fokker-Planck equation that describes the response’s probabilistic features of the system when it is excited by external Gaussian load and on a model updating technique that minimizes the differences between the response of the actual system and that of a parametric system used to identify the unknown parameters. Numerical analyses, that imulate virtual experimental tests, are used in the paper to show the capabilities of the method.

Abstract
In this paper a new methodology for the identification of the mechanical parameters of nonlinear MDOF systems is described. It can be used for damage identification purposes when the damage modifies the non-linearity of the investigated structure. It is based on the solution of the Fokker-Planck equation that describes the response’s probabilistic features of the system when it is excited by external Gaussian load and on a model updating technique that minimizes the differences between the response of the actual system and that of a parametric system used to identify the unknown parameters. Numerical analyses, that imulate virtual experimental tests, are used in the paper to show the capabilities of the method.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
