This paper provides the results of extensive numerical investigations on the fire behaviour of RC frames exposed to fire. A global analytical procedure has been proposed that is capable to take into account the effect of the constrained thermal expansions and the variation of the mechanical properties due to the increase of the temperature. For the numerical analyses, two and three-storeys 2D frames have been subjected to a parametric fire located in different compartments. Moreover, different heating conditions on the beams lateral surface have been considered. Results are discussed in order to highlight the effect of the number of floors, the location of the compartment exposed to fire, the beams’ length and the condition of exposition.
