The study focuses on the comparison of thermo-pluviometric series (complete, validated and homogenized from 1981 to 2021) measured by 11 weather stations in the vineyard areas of the Abruzzo Region (Central Italy) with the corresponding series derived from two gridded datasets: ERA5-Land and E-OBS, both available at the same spatial resolution of 0.1° Lat/Long, with the aim to assess linear correlation and bias, at different time scales (daily, 10-daily, monthly). The estimation of correction factors will allow to improve the accuracy of gridded datasets and, consequently, of the main water balance components (rainfall and reference evapotranspiration), even in areas not covered by meteorological stations.

Abstract
