The pandemic has broken the digital taboo in Italian prisons, opening up possible new conditions of life and communication with the outside world. The article reconstructs the Prison Administration's attempts to deal with the digital. Indeed, the prison punishment has always identified the principle of less eligibility of the prison living condition as the brake on the technology’ deployment ex parte captivi which still finds its argumentative tool in the unfounded principle of security.
