Nowadays for turfgrass, as well as for other agricultural productive activities, the knowledge of the most frequent and dangerous diseases occurring in the different areas is an important and strategic factor for the rational application of integrated pest management (IPM) measures. In the past with few economic resources and more recently with a project financed by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture (MIPAF), phytopathological investigations in the main Italian environmental conditions were carried out. A particular aspect of the studies regarded the detection of pathogens in seed samples of perennial ryegrass and tall fescue. In this paper are summarized the principal results obtained for different cool season grasses in experimental fields located in Central Italy together with the data concerning seed pathology.
