in order to shed light on some aspects of the pathogenesis of circovirus infection in broiler pigeons, bursal and thymic samples were collected for histological and ultrastructural examinations. Virological investigations by negatve staining electon microscopy (NS-EM) and hybridisation test were also performed. Histological examinations revealed lymphocytic depletion associated with the presence of nuclear and cytoplasmic inclusions. The NS-EM detected corcovirus-like particles as from one weel of age. The early presence of the viral particles in squabs could be justified by diffusion with crop secretions, but the possibility of a vertical transmission is also suggested.

Abstract
in order to shed light on some aspects of the pathogenesis of circovirus infection in broiler pigeons, bursal and thymic samples were collected for histological and ultrastructural examinations. The early presence of the viral particles in squabs could be justified by diffusion with crop secretions, but the possibility of a vertical transmission is also suggested.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
