La necropoli del Palazzone (Perugia) e il progetto SILENE: il ruolo della geologia nella lettura dell’evoluzione temporale dei paesaggi.

The geological interpretation of the landscape, particularly in the urban environment, is a new approach. However, for a correct approach in the study of cities, it is not possible to ignore the geographical, geomorphological and geological characteristics of the settlement site, that justify not only the site location but also the subsequent phases of development of the urban fabric. A multidisciplinary approach of the disciplines of the Earth Sciences reveals much of the historical and cultural evolution of “human places”. Perugia stands on a hill made up of deposits as conglomerates, sands and clays. The lithological nature and the subsequent morphological evolution have been the basis of settlement choices since the Etruscan era. From this point of view, the Palazzone necropolis is a perfect example of an archeogeosite, or a site that combines geological and archaeological values.
