Efficienza produttiva in oliveti superintensivi: influenza della concimazione e dell’irrigazione

Introduction of high - intensity olive orchards changed the exigency of olive growing. Cultural practices and appropriate varieties are needed to improve yield efficiency of trees in this pretty dense orchard. Yield efficiency becomes important point in order to provide the most correct practices in the crop management. The aim of this work was to figure out the effect of improved irrigation and nitrogen fertilization on yield efficiency and fruit - oil quality. Improved nitrogen fertilization and improved irrigation decreased yield efficiency and polyphenols content in oil. No effect was detected regarding fruit characteristics. Considering these results, crop management could carried out allowing an average vigor without an excess of nitrogen and irrigation as well as a deficit of these elements because the two extreme caused an increase of vigor in the fist case and alternate bearing in the other one.
