In this paper we propose a Movement Detection Algorithm (MDA) which operates at the Mobile IP layer, in order to render Mobile IP able to timely manage migration, irrespective of the specific lower layers technologies. We also analyze the performance of our algorithm and we show that our solution can decrease the movement detection delay, as much as 47% with respect to other literature solutions that pursue similar approaches.
