Meteorological scenarios complete of the data at soil surface required for modeling the transport of pollutants in the low layers of troposphere are defined. These rely on the determination of different scenarios of atmospheric stability carried out through fictitious vertical profiles of air temperature considered representative of the actual profiles in a study area of Central Italy and first used to derive the usual classes of atmospheric stability as those of unstable atmosphere, neutral atmosphere, stable atmosphere, thermal inversion at surface and thermal inversion in the upper layers. Each scenario was linked with experimental data of air temperature observed at 06.00 GMT and 15.00 GMT and was completed with experimental data of air temperature and relative humidity, wind speed and direction, and cloud cover, all averaged in the period investigated of seven years.
