Surface velocity radars (SVRs) are widely used in river monitoring. This paper demonstrates a novel continuous-wave surface velocity Doppler radar based on frequency scanning, where the enhanced beam squint (steering of the beam versus frequency) of the phased-array antennas is exploited. The proposed sensor offers a promising solution for the monitoring of surface velocity throughout the entire cross-section of rivers, allowing for river discharge estimation.

Abstract
Surface velocity radars (SVRs) are widely used in river monitoring. This paper demonstrates a novel continuous-wave surface velocity Doppler radar based on frequency scanning, where the enhanced beam squint (steering of the beam versus frequency) of the phased-array antennas is exploited. The proposed sensor offers a promising solution for the monitoring of surface velocity throughout the entire cross-section of rivers, allowing for river discharge estimation.File in questo prodotto:
