In the last fifteen years, research in the field of social and emotional learning has started to get interested in developing apps, software and web platforms designed for supporting the acquisition and strengthening of competencies of intra and interpersonal nature. It is still a “young” approach, that even if promising, needs to be explored with a more critical and structured eye, starting from what is already available and looking into three key directions: content, methods, and accessibility. If on hand there is a wide literature dedicated to assessing general apps and educational software, on the other this is still lacking for what concerns technologies applied to social and emotional learning that need a specific assessment system able to consistently investigate their quality from usage, and consequently, impact point of view.
