Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a pathologic increase of the blood pressure within the arterial pulmonary vasculature. Pulmonary arterial pressure can be measured invasively by endovascular catheterism or estimated by doppler evaluation of the velocity of tricuspid or pulmonary regurgitation in absence of pulmonary stenosis. PH in dogs treated with classical therapy (based on oxygen, diuretics, ACE-inhibitors or calcium channel blockers) is associated with a poor prognosis. It has been recently proposed a new treatment with sildenafil, which showed a good outcome in the dog. We treated with sildenafil 6 dogs affected by PH. In all dogs but one the pulmonary sistolic arterial pressure decreased of about 20 mmHg for the 30-days period of follow-up.

Abstract
In all dogs but one the pulmonary sistolic arterial pressure decreased of about 20 mmHg for the 30-days period of follow-up.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
