Sustainability in recent years has essentially been conceived as referring to economic and expenditure-related aspects. In this way sustainability and health can come into conflict, as has happened in cases where services have been reduced in order to balance the budget. It is therefore proposed to think about a broader and more comprehensive meaning of sustainability, one that takes into account the health needs of present and future generations and invests in a solid and balanced public organization capable of providing services for all on a constant basis over time.
