Starting from an experience of applied anthropology, this paper presents some considerations on drug consumptions and harm reduction field. The direct observation activity enlightened some of the dynamics characterizing consumption of substances in loisir contexts and the relationship between services and “consumers” as well. Finally, the consultancy revealed similarities between social and ethnographic work, an issue useful to identify a common and “flexible” workspace through elements enriching the dialogue between different knowledge and professionalism.
