Abstract

The reflections presented in this contribution arise from an ethnographic research con-ducted in some social and health services for people with mental disorders, aimed at understanding the processes that regulate the functioning of the network of community resources in Perugia. In particular, attention is given to some individual stories, intercept-ed and reconstructed within a residential facility: these are fragmented and polyphonic stories, revealing the critical issues that emerge in a specific phase of the rehabilitation process, namely the one in which its end is thought and/or achieved. The examples pre-sented question the very practicability of separation and discharge of the patient, even in the face of a communion – at least declared – of intent, suggesting at the same time the need to investigate the mechanisms that contribute to complicating the separative dynam-ics in progress, especially in the absence of an external network, more or less formal
