This paper explores the potential of adaptive reuse for the former Pambuffetti industrial facility in Foligno, Italy, transforming it into a contemporary art space inspired by the Kunsthalle model. The research investigates the principles of industrial archaeology and the architectural strategies for recovering disused industrial sites, highlighting successful international examples such as the Tate Modern and the Dia Beacon, as well as Italian cases like Fondazione Prada. It examines the concept of the Kunsthalle as an institution focused on temporary exhibitions and its relevance to the contemporary art scene. Furthermore, the study analyzes the cultural landscape of the Umbria region and the existing museum offer in Foligno, noting a potential for growth in contemporary art spaces. The principal aim of the proposed transformation is to create a dynamic cultural hub that revitalizes an underutilized urban area, preserves industrial heritage, and fosters a dialogue between contemporary art and the local community, adhering to the principles of sustainable urban development outlined in Agenda 2030. The research concludes that the adaptive reuse of the Pambuffetti facility as a Kunsthalle represents a significant opportunity for cultural enrichment, urban regeneration, and the promotion of sustainable practices within the region.
