Establishing a state’s genocidal intent is a highly complex task. Yet this intent constitutes a distinctive element of genocide, the so-called dolus specialis, without which the state’s internationally wrongful act cannot be considered committed. To this end, in the case of the abuses perpetrated by Israel in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, the violence against Palestinian children is of particular significance, given its precision, selectivity, and extent.
