African Swine Fever (ASF) is a significant threat to the livestock sector, making effective communication strategies essential to support various stakeholders, including farmers, in preventing the introduction of the disease and, when present, in controlling its spread. This study assessed the effectiveness of websites in providing accurate and comprehensive information about ASF to farmers, analysing 15 portals categorized as institutional, commercial, and associative. A scoring grid was developed to assess the thoroughness, quality, accessibility, and clarity of the information. Preliminary findings reveal significant variability in the thoroughness and quality of online content, with some websites offering detailed and updated information, while others exhibit major gaps. Notably, there is often a lack of information on critical topics such as current regulations, disease spread, and procedures to follow in case of an outbreak. Institutional websites provide detailed content but sometimes are difficult to navigate; commercial websites are more accessible but less comprehensive, while associative websites show significant deficiencies in technical content. The study highlights the need for clear, accessible, and timely communication to ensure that farmers are aware of the key aspects of ASF affecting pig farming and are better prepared to respond to its possible introduction in their area.
