The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of equine amniotic membrane, obtained during caesarean sections by our veterinary animal hospital, in case of ulcerative keratitis in horses. Amniotic membrane grafting is effective to promote corneal healing and corneal surface reconstruction. The amniotic membrane was implanted in six eyes of six horses with good results, limited corneal vascularization and reduced secondary corneal leucoma. The only serious complication was the spread of an underlying bacterial infection with amniotic membrane dissolution.

Abstract
The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of equine amniotic membrane, obtained during caesarean sections by our veterinary animal hospital, in case of ulcerative keratitis in horses. Amniotic membrane grafting is effective to promote corneal healing and corneal surface reconstruction. The amniotic membrane was implanted in six eyes of six horses with good results, limited corneal vascularization and reduced secondary corneal leucoma. The only serious complication was the spread of an underlying bacterial infection with amniotic membrane dissolution.File in questo prodotto:
