In this work a new way to measure stress pattern by thermoelasticity inside and on the surface of composite materials has been proposed. The work on this subject is analysed and the different models of thermoelastic effect on composite materials illustrated. Simple tests has been planned and performed on simple geometry test specimen, using different measurement setup, with and without painting the specimen, with and without stress concentration around holes and using composite materials with different fiber orientation. Results obtained clearly indicates the possibility to obtain information on the stress both on the surface layer and on the fiber inside the material.

Abstract
In this work a new way to measure stress pattern by thermoelasticity inside and on the surface of composite materials has been proposed. The work on this subject is analysed and the different models of thermoelastic effect on composite materials illustrated. Simple tests has been planned and performed on simple geometry test specimen, using different measurement setup, with and without painting the specimen, with and without stress concentration around holes and using composite materials with different fiber orientation. Results obtained clearly indicates the possibility to obtain information on the stress both on the surface layer and on the fiber inside the material.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
