The effect of gender on growth, carcass traits, and longissimus muscle pH and colour of 16 hybrids (11 month old), 8 barrows (B) an 8 gilts (G) produced by crossing Maremmano wild boars with Duroc sows, was studied. Results showed that B had higher growth rate (456 vs 414 g), slaughter weight (128 vs 121 kg) backfat thickness and fatty cut yield than G.
