Case report. An 80-year-old man with a large (6 cm) aneurysm of the descending thoracic aorta was treated with a stent-graft endovascular implant in December 2002. A few days later, he presented with fever of unknown origin that continued for 12 months despite extensive diagnostic investigation and several cycles of empiric antibiotic therapy. In July 2003 he was admitted to the hospital because of fever and worsening of his general condition.
