Angitola River basin is an area located between Serre and Mesima graben (central Calabria). It shows a strong structural control and, locally, the influence of neotectonic (by morphological evidences found on the substratum, such as tiltings, L – shaped and rectified rivers, anomalous confluences, asymmetrical hydrographic patterns). These geological – geomorphological elements have been investigated and processed through aerial photography interpretation procedures and field surveys, analysis method and GIS description. The outcome of these processes is a cluster of layers (faults, marine terraces, landslides, alluvial fans, etc.). The features are included in a GIS project with overlay analysis on geographic layers (contour lines, hydrography, built – up areas, etc.). In this way is possible to spot on geo – ambiental risks (such as seismic risk, landslide risk, flood risk, etc.), generating original informations for researchers, technicians and public administration. The method is usable for territorial planning and management (expecially Communal Structural Plane, PSC by Regional Law 19/2002). Further applications are in study for adjoining basins and bigger districts.
