In this report we describe a case of granulomatous enteritis in a horse. Horses with granulomatous enteritis usually have abnormal absorption of carbohydrates because of severe, diffuse small intestinal villous atrophy, but some have a normal test because intestinal lesion are focal. About one half of affected horses have lesions in rectal biopsy samples typical of the disease. Prognosis for survival of horses with granulomatous enteritis is very poor. The cause of granulomatous enteritis is unknown. Surgical treatment of most horses is not possible.
