The technique, known as Digital Image Correlation (DIC), allows to measure the displacement field on the surface of the object, that in our case are the brick of the masonry structure. The recent development of the DIC is due also to the performance improvement of cameras for image acquisition, in terms of resolution and acquisition speed. This open up new measurement possibilities. In this work the measurement technique is developed and demonstrated using a scale model of a bridge, exited dynamically by a small shaker, in order to demonstrate the feasibility of the monitoring of real structures by using their in service vibration or using low level vibration exciters. Other tests has been performed in portions of brick walls in a compression testing machine, while a classical compression testing up to failure take places.
