Abstract
Due to their small airways diameter, the aspiration of foreign bodies in cats is rare. The bronchoscopy is the method most commonly used for diagnosis and therapy: however, a number of cases where the endoscopic removal failed are reported in cats. As a matter of fact, regardless of accessibility to small enough instruments, one of the main issues is the risk of occluding the airways with the instrument itself, causing a severe hypoxemia. Although the fluoroscopic-guidance is now considered the most effective and safe therapeutic approach, the Authors describe a case where the removal of a large-sized gravel from the left mainstem bronchus was performed endoscopically. Therefore, the flexible endoscopy is a useful diagnostic technique as well as a successful therapeutic option for the safe removal of foreign bodies even in catsI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
