Urogenital tract diseases are some of the most common causes of surgical treatment in the first month of life. Traditional surgical techniques necessitate a long celiotomy which doesn’t allow an adequate and complete view of all the involved anatomical structures. The use of laparoscopy allows a better anatomic evaluation of umbilical structures, with a significant reduction of surgical morbidity. This study tends to describe our diagnostic experiences, using laparoscopy, in foals with umbilical structures’ disease with the possibility to apply this technique for a surgical approach.

Abstract
Urogenital tract diseases are some of the most common causes of surgical treatment in the first month of life. Traditional surgical techniques necessitate a long celiotomy which doesn’t allow an adequate and complete view of all the involved anatomical structures. The use of laparoscopy allows a better anatomic evaluation of umbilical structures, with a significant reduction of surgical morbidity. This study tends to describe our diagnostic experiences, using laparoscopy, in foals with umbilical structures’ disease with the possibility to apply this technique for a surgical approach.File in questo prodotto:
