An unusual epidemic occupational Pyemotes (P.) ventricosus-induced dermatitis is described. 10 white-collar employees working in a modern office building evidenced mite-induced erythemato-edemato-papulous lesions in their trunk and upper limbs. P. ventricosus is an ectoparasite mite living on various plant and wood-parasitizing insect larvae. Its presence in indoor working environments is generally due to the introduction of mite-infested products and therefore warehousemen, unloaders and carpenters are the most affected workers. Our cases point out to the fact that, among other aspecific risks in non-industrial indoor workplaces, ectoparasites can also be a possible cause of environmental infestation.

Abstract
An unusual epidemic occupational Pyemotes (P.) ventricosus-induced dermatitis is described. 10 white-collar employees working in a modern office building evidenced mite-induced erythemato-edemato-papulous lesions in their trunk and upper limbs. Its presence in indoor working environments is generally due to the introduction of mite-infested products and therefore warehousemen, unloaders and carpenters are the most affected workers. Our cases point out to the fact that, among other aspecific risks in non-industrial indoor workplaces, ectoparasites can also be a possible cause of environmental infestation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
