A semi-distributed conceptual model for flood simulation is presented. The basin is substantially divided into small sub-basins. Infiltration is represented by the Smith and Parlange approach together with an extended form of the lime compression approximation, the effective rainfall-direct runoff process is described by the geomorphologic instantaneous unit hydrograph, and the routing of the hydrographs through the main streams to the outlet is carried out by the linearized diffusion routing approach. The surface retention loss is also incorporated. Model accuracy was investigated by applications to real events on an Italian basin. A comparison with its lumped version was also made.

Abstract
A semi-distributed conceptual model for flood simulation is presented. The basin is substantially divided into small sub-basins. Infiltration is represented by the Smith and Parlange approach together with an extended form of the lime compression approximation, the effective rainfall-direct runoff process is described by the geomorphologic instantaneous unit hydrograph, and the routing of the hydrographs through the main streams to the outlet is carried out by the linearized diffusion routing approach. The surface retention loss is also incorporated. Model accuracy was investigated by applications to real events on an Italian basin. A comparison with its lumped version was also made.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
