Stereospecific synthesis of the title compounds has been achieved in > 95% ee by use of palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of S- and R-(3-benzyloxycarbonyl-5-oxo-4-oxazolidinyl)-acetyl chloride, respectively, with 3-trimethylstannyl pyridine at room temperature.
