This contribution highlights the role of 'place', as an homogeneous region featured by specific social and economic conditions, in triggering the spread of organic farming through local market. Specifically, the paper analyze the ability of place to indirectly influence production decisions. Given the social and economic environment of agents, results show the existence of a relation between local demand and organic farming suggesting policy interventions beyond the sectoral dimension in a perspective of social and economic cohesion.
