The electronic pair correlation function in beryllium has been measured using X-ray scattering. The results show some structure not present in the free atom calculation. The valence-electron correlation function has been deduced from the experimental data. Assuming that such a correlation function is representative for an electron gas with rs=2.072, the authors deduce a small but significant correction to the jellium correlation energy at metallic density.

Abstract
The electronic pair correlation function in beryllium has been measured using X-ray scattering. The results show some structure not present in the free atom calculation. The valence-electron correlation function has been deduced from the experimental data. Assuming that such a correlation function is representative for an electron gas with rs=2.072, the authors deduce a small but significant correction to the jellium correlation energy at metallic density.File in questo prodotto:
