The Authors describe an experimental model based on PTFE micro prosthetic devices implant in rat femoral artery. Microsurgical technique was required in order to place 0.8 mm prosthedic graft with internal diameter 1 mm to restore blood flow in interrupted femoral arteries, under general anesthesia. Patency was checked by re operating rats at 45 days after the first intervention: 87.5% successful implants where found. Graft were also controlled by the means of optical microscope, in order to assess the isthological changes happened at 15 days and 45 days from implant. The Authors believe that microprosthetic devices present an acceptable patency rate and a good bio compatibility, even if a greater number of studies are required to demonstrate a reliability comparable to that of autologous vein implants.

Abstract
The Authors describe an experimental model based on PTFE micro prosthetic devices implant in rat femoral artery. Microsurgical technique was required in order to place 0.8 mm prosthedic graft with internal diameter 1 mm to restore blood flow in interrupted femoral arteries, under general anesthesia. Patency was checked by re operating rats at 45 days after the first intervention: 87.5% successful implants where found. Graft were also controlled by the means of optical microscope, in order to assess the isthological changes happened at 15 days and 45 days from implant. The Authors believe that microprosthetic devices present an acceptable patency rate and a good bio compatibility, even if a greater number of studies are required to demonstrate a reliability comparable to that of autologous vein implants.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
