This review on olive scab disease (Spilocaea oleagina (Cast.) Hugh.) reports past and recent knowledges on some biological and epidemiological aspects of the pathogen. Particularly, results of researches on the influence of environmental conditions and the production and dissemination of conidia, the correlation between filloptosis caused by S.oleagina and bud anthogenesis in olive trees and the main control measures are widely described. Preliminary results on the incidence of olive scab in two Umbrian olive orchards are also reported with suggestions for an integrated control of the disease.
