The nucleocapsid p7 (NCp7) protein is an enzyme-like, zinc-finger protein that plays a pivotal role within the HIV replicative cycle . The inhibition of its activity results in the interruption of viral replication without selecting resistant strains. Taking advantage of the SAR collected with the known zinc ejector, disulfide-based NCp7 inhibitors, a number of diselenides containing the structural core of benzoic and nicotinic acid were synthesized to test their anti-HIV activity. The synthesis and the structural elucidation are here reported.

Abstract
The nucleocapsid p7 (NCp7) protein is an enzyme-like, zinc-finger protein that plays a pivotal role within the HIV replicative cycle . The inhibition of its activity results in the interruption of viral replication without selecting resistant strains. Taking advantage of the SAR collected with the known zinc ejector, disulfide-based NCp7 inhibitors, a number of diselenides containing the structural core of benzoic and nicotinic acid were synthesized to test their anti-HIV activity. The synthesis and the structural elucidation are here reported.File in questo prodotto:
