The domestic context is particularly important for the promotion of the child's cognitive, linguistic and emotional development. Early exposure to reading aloud practices, the benefits of which are largely documented by scientific evidence, acquires a significant value when mediated by significant adults. This study presents a review of the literature on the benefits of shared reading within the family environment with a focus on the parent-child interactions that support reading, which are positively correlated to the development of language skills and emotional awareness, but also relevant to the development of relational skills and emotional awareness. The study also focuses on the indicators that are the basis for the implementation – or, on the contrary, the absence – of this practice within the domestic context, being significant primarily the parent's motivation and their sense of self-efficacy, family income, habits and experiences of the adult about reading.

Abstract
The domestic context is particularly important for the promotion of the child's cognitive, linguistic and emotional development. Early exposure to reading aloud practices, the benefits of which are largely documented by scientific evidence, acquires a significant value when mediated by significant adults. This study presents a review of the literature on the benefits of shared reading within the family environment with a focus on the parent-child interactions that support reading, which are positively correlated to the development of language skills and emotional awareness, but also relevant to the development of relational skills and emotional awareness. The study also focuses on the indicators that are the basis for the implementation – or, on the contrary, the absence – of this practice within the domestic context, being significant primarily the parent's motivation and their sense of self-efficacy, family income, habits and experiences of the adult about reading.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
