This study explores the intersection of general premises, approaches in Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE), and travel literature in Umbria, proposing didactic strategies for educational contexts. It emphasizes the relevance of travel literature as a multidisciplinary tool that enriches the understanding of geographical, historical, and cultural narratives. By analyzing different travel travelogues, the article investigates how these texts can be exploited as valuable resources not only for teaching geography but a foreign language too, providing insights into environmental changes and cultural interactions over time. The findings suggest that integrating travel literature to promote language acquisition not only enhances learners’ linguistic skills but also fosters their intercultural competence. Finally, the study advocates for a didactic framework that exploits travel narratives to develop engaging and meaningful learning experiences in ELE classrooms.
